Your Competition Has a Scouting Report on You. Do You Have One on Them?
Coach Lionel’s competitive scouting framework shows how to study rankings, websites, reviews, offers, ads, content, and customer experience without copying competitors.

👑 CROWN BRIEF
The opening drive
Your competitors do not need access to your private business plan to study you. They can see your Google presence, website, reviews, offers, content, social activity, advertisements, response speed, pricing signals, positioning, and customer experience from the same public field your prospects see.
You should be studying that field too.
Competitive intelligence is not about copying the company in first place. Copying keeps you behind. The goal is to understand what buyers are being taught to expect, identify where competitors are strong, find where they are vulnerable, and discover the opportunity nobody is claiming.
🦁 THE LION'S EDGE
Coach Lionel's Scouting Report
Choose three direct competitors and review the same ten areas for each:
- Search visibility: who appears for the highest-intent searches?
- Google Business Profile: categories, photos, services, updates, Q&A, and completeness.
- Reviews: rating, volume, recency, themes, and owner responses.
- Website: message, mobile experience, proof, speed, navigation, and conversion paths.
- Offer: what exactly are they asking customers to buy or do?
- Advertising: what messages, landing pages, and promotions are visible?
- Content: what questions and search topics are they consistently answering?
- Social proof: are they showing real customers, work, results, or recognizable authority?
- Follow-up experience: request information and document how fast and how well they respond.
- White space: what important customer need is nobody addressing convincingly?
🎥 COACH'S FILM ROOM
The Rule: Learn, Don't Clone
Separate observations into three columns: what they do better, what we do better, and what nobody does well. The third column is often the most valuable.
Your strongest move may be better accessibility, clearer pricing logic, original visual authority, better education, faster follow-up, stronger local proof, a more useful tool, or an experience that reduces uncertainty before the sale.
⚔️ THE BATTLE PLAN
This Week's Battle Plan
- Name your three most relevant competitors.
- Score all three against the ten scouting categories.
- Write three things they currently do better than you.
- Write three things you can credibly own that they cannot easily copy.
